The vision of the department is to excel as a teaching-learning seat for research, innovation, technological excellence in fisheries and marine bioscience to produce globally recognized graduates who are prepared to lead, are competent to excel as professional and entrepreneurs and bear unimpeachable integrity.

 

Mission of the Fisheries and Marine Bioscience Program

The mission of the department is to generate and disseminate scientific information for sustainable utilization of marine and fisheries resources, promoting a culture of continuous learning for foster knowledge based community or civil service, development of strategic enterprises, food security, employment creation, conservation and restoration of the aquatic environment. The other motto of the department is preparing students with skills, knowledge address the challenge to support national and global needs as life-long learners.

 

Objectives of the Program

Department of Fisheries and Marine Bioscience have been conducting undergraduate and Master’s program since 2009 as a degree offering entity under the Faculty of Biological Science and Technology. It has the following general and specific objectives:

 

  1. Foster competently skilled manpower for employment in fisheries sector.
  2. To facilitate an adequate education and research environment.
  3. To conduct theoretical and practical studies with students.
  4. To provide a relevant field visit, training experiments to the students in different organizations.
  5. To develop collaborative research partnership with national and international institute, university and industry.
  6. To provide support to the community by serving profession or developing life-long learners.
  7. Improving fisheries industries and national food security through research dissemination.
